SPICY BLOOD ORANGE MARGARITA
Spicy tequila, lime and tangy blood oranges? Yes, please! As you all know, I love margaritas! I think, as a cocktail, it’s such an easy one to play with - if you keep the basic ingredients and measurements the same, you can have so much fun with different juices and infused simple syrups, giving you such a great arsenal of cocktail recipes up your sleeves! As I have a tree in my garden, blood orange is my go-to, and you need this marg in your life! Your amount of simple syrup and lime will depend on just how tart your oranges are – so add more or less as necessary!
INGREDIENTS
2 oz Blanco Tequila
1 oz orange liqueur/ Triple Sec
1 oz fresh Blood Orange Juice (about half a blood orange)
.75 to 1 oz fresh Lime Juice –(1 average size lime)
.5 oz jalapeño simple syrup
PREPARATION
1. Make your spicy simple syrup by putting ½ a cup of water and ½ a cup of sugar in a saucepan and bringing it to a boil. Add in 3-4 slices of jalapeño and reduce to a simmer. Simmer for 5 mins, then strain and cool.
2. In a shaker, add the tequila, triple sec, and simple syrup.
3. Squeeze in the blood orange and lime juices.
4. Fill your shaker half full of ice.
5. Shake for 30 seconds.
6. Dump into a cocktail glass and garnish with an edible flower or blood orange slice!
